Flat feet

It is a usually and common painless condition, flatfeet can occur when the arches don't develop during childhood. If the patient have flatfeet the arches on the inside of feet are flattened, allowing the entire soles of feet to touch the floor when stand up. In some cases, flatfeet develop from the simple wear-and-tear stresses of age or after an injury.

Flat feet

It is a usually and common painless condition, flatfeet can occur when the arches don't develop during childhood. If the patient have flatfeet the arches on the inside of feet are flattened, allowing the entire soles of feet to touch the floor when stand up. In some cases, flatfeet develop from the simple wear-and-tear stresses of age or after an injury.

Symptoms: Most people have no signs or symptoms associated with flatfeet. But some people with flatfeet experience foot pain and Swelling along the inside of the ankle.

Risk factors:

·         Obesity

·         Injury to your foot or ankle

·         Rheumatoid arthritis

·         Aging

·         Diabetes

Diagnosis: The physician will look the mechanics of feet, wear pattern of shoe or sandal.

If you're having a lot of pain in feet, imaging tests will be perform such as:

·         X-rays. 

·          CT scan. 

·          Ultrasound

·         MRI. 

 Treatment: No treatment is necessary for flatfeet if they don't cause pain. If pain is there follow

·         Arch supports (orthotic devices). This supports may help relieve the pain caused by flatfeet. Arch supports won't cure flatfeet, but they often reduce symptoms.

·         Stretching exercises. Some people with flatfeet also have a shortened Achilles tendon. Tendon stretch exercises may help.

·         Supportive shoes.  These are comfortable than shoes or sandals with minimal support.

·         Physical therapy.  A physical therapist can do a video analysis of how the patient runs to help you improve your form and technique.
