Influenza, commonly called the flu. It is a viral infection effects on respiratory system such as throat, nose and lungs.

Symptoms:

·         Fever over 100.4 F (38 C)

·         Aching muscles, especially in your back, arms and legs

·         Chills and sweats

·         Headache

·         Dry, persistent cough

·         Fatigue and weakness

·         Nasal congestion

·         Sore throat

Causes: Flu viruses travel through the air in droplets, coughs, sneezes or talks, germs from an object such as a computer keyboard or telephone.

Risk factors:

·         Age

·         Weakened immune system

·         Chronic illnesses

·         Pregnancy

·         Obesity

Complications:

·         Pneumonia

·         Bronchitis

·         Asthma flare-ups

·         Heart problems

·         Ear infections

Preventions:

·         Wash your hands. Use alcohol-based hand sanitizers if soap and water aren't readily available. Frequent and thorough washing of hands is an effective way to prevent many common infections.

·         Contain your coughs and sneezes. Cover your mouth and nose when you sneeze or cough.

·         Avoid crowds.  By avoiding crowds during peak flu season, you reduce your chances of infection.

Diagnosis: Rapid influenza diagnostics test

Treatment: Plenty of fluids and bed rests is sufficient to treat the flu. But in some cases, antiviral medication was prescribed, such as oseltamivir or zanamivir.

Oseltamivir is an oral medication. Zanamivir is inhaled through a device similar to an asthma inhaler and shouldn't be used by anyone with respiratory problems, such as asthma and lung disease.
