HMD Healthcare all set to enter South America

The makers of popular Dispovan range of disposable syringes and Kojak Auto Disabling Syringes showcased its world class range of products at Americas’ biggest and most prestigious medical fair  “Hospitalar” which is taking place at Sao Paulo, Brazil.

Hospitalar in trade circle is referred to as the entry point for the South American market as out of over 90,000 professional attendees it attracts from the healthcare industry, decision makers and influencers represent 58 per cent of that figure and if a product or company is able to make an impression here, they are on the go in this big but challenging market. And HMD’s syringes and IV Catheter with their Quality and Innovative features like non Reuse and Needle Stick Injury Protection have been able to make quite an impression on both counts of competitiveness.

HMD will soon be entering into trade tie ups with local importers and is mulling to open up a trading office in Brazil or may serve the South American market from its USA office. HMD Healthcare already exports syringes to more than 120 countries and besides India and USA, also has office in the UK.

“We see a huge opportunity in South America and we can draw from our experiences in other markets such as USA and UK. Brazil is indeed a huge market and gateway to the even bigger South American market. In the past we had been approached by some large importers but at that time we had limited capacity and means to properly service this huge market but having added capacity last year and space to add machines in our new factory we have decided to explore opportunities here and focus ” said Rajiv Nath, joint managing director, HMD Healthcare Ltd.

“More than anything else, it’s indeed a proud moment for the country when products made by it are appreciated for its world class quality and competitiveness. HMD’s move will open up new opportunities for other manufacturers from India and support Make in India program,” added Nath.

The Indian pavilion where HMD is carrying the Indian colours was inaugurated by Abhilasha Joshi, the Consul General for India and Kapil Gupta, the director general for TPCI - Trade Promotion Council of India. This year the Indian contingent constituted 38 exhibitors from India and was the largest country pavilion after China at Hospitalar with 290 sq m of space and created a positive positioning for Brand India.
