1.0 PURPOSE:
To describe a standard operating procedure for breakdown rectification of leaf filters.
2.0 SCOPE:
The standard operating procedure describes in detail the method of breakdown rectification of leaf filters in the plant.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY:
The responsibility of breakdown rectification of leaf filters lies with the staff of rank not lower than junior utility operator of maintenance department.
The responsibility of preparing, reviewing and approving the standard operating procedure lies with the Manager - Maintenance, Head of Production and Head of QAD respectively.
4.0 METHOD:
4.1 Replacement of filter bags:
4.1.1 Switch off the pump which is connected to the leaf filter.
4.1.2 Close the inlet valve of the leaf filter.
4.1.3 Disconnect the leaf filter from inlet pipeline.
4.1.4 Remove all the top lid bolts.
4.1.5 Take out the top lid along with the filter bags.
4.1.6 Clean leaf filter thoroughly using water.
4.1.7 Remove the damaged filter bags
4.1.8 Insert the new bags into the leafs and tie them using PP-fabric rope.
4.1.9 Check the main flange gasket. If it is damaged replace it as per the SOP REPLACEMENT OF GASKETS OF REACTORS MAIN FLANGE, PRESSURE FILTERS AND LEAF FILTERS
4.1.10 Fix the top lid and tighten all the bolts and nuts.
4.1.11 Connect the leaf filter to the pump outlet .
4.1.12 Open the inlet valve.
4.1.13 Switch on the pump, check for any leakages.
4.1.14 If there is any leakage from the flange, tighten the lid bolts till it does not leak.
4.2 Damage of main flanges:
4.2.1 Perform Step Nos. 4.1.1 to 4.1.6.
4.2.2 Remove the filter bags.
4.2.3 Send the leaf filter for repairs to the outside agency as per the SOP No. SENDING OUT EQUIPMENT FOR RECTIFICATION TO THE OUTSIDE AGENCY and get its rectification.
4.2.4 After receiving from repair clean the filter thoroughly as required.
4.2.5 Repeat 4.1.8 to 4.1.14.
4.2.6 Record the data in the history card of the equipment.
4.3 Damage of filter leaves and main body:
4.3.1 Perform steps 4.1.1 to 4.1.6.
4.3.2 Remove the filter bags.
4.3.3 Repair the damaged leaves and replace the damaged revets. Repair the main body if it leaks.
4.2.4 Clean the filter thoroughly as required.
4.3.5 Perform steps 4.1.8 to 4.1.14.
4.3.6 Record the data in the history card of the equipment.
5.0 RECORDING:
The responsibility of recording breakdown rectification of leaf filter in the equipment history card as per the SOP lies with the staff of rank not lower than maintenance supervisor.
