Description

1.0    PURPOSE:
    
    To  describe  a  standard operating  procedure  (SOP) for  performing nutsch filtration.
        
2.0    SCOPE:
    
    The SOP describes in detail the method of nutsch filtration.
    
3.0    RESPONSIBILITY:
    
    The  responsibility  of carrying out nutsch filtration as per the SOP lies with the staff of the rank not lower than operator of the production department.
    
    The responsibility of preparing, reviewing and approving the SOP lies with the Officer (Production), Head of Production and Head of QAD  respectively.
    
4.0    METHOD:
    
4.1    Arrange a clean nutsch filter bag in the nutsch filter.
    
4. 2    Arrange hose pipe from vacuum line to nutsch filter  receiver.
    
4. 3    Open the bottom valve of reactor after arranging a hose pipe to the  bottom valve of the reactor and the other end of the  hose pipe is left in nutsch filter.
    
4. 4    Allow  the  wet material to filter through the bag arranged  in  the nutsch filter.
    
4. 5    Apply vacuum by opening the valve initially slowly and gradually fully. Close vacuum valve and remove hose pipe.
    
4. 6    Collect the mother liquors into the drum/reactor.
    
4.7    Wash the cake with specified solvent and suck dry using vacuum.
    
4.8    Unload  the cake into double poly bags contained in  drums  and close. Fix label.
    
5.0    RECORDING:
    
    The nutsch filtration operation will  be   recorded   by   the staff of rank not lower than  operator in the batch manufacturing sheet.
