1.1 To lay down the procedure for operation of Metrohm 795 KFT Titrino using Tinet 2.5 software.
2.0 SCOPE:
2.1 This procedure is applicable in Quality Control department.

5.0 PROCEDURE:
5.1 Check whether the Accessories are connected properly.
5.2 Switch on the PC and the Instrument.
5.3 Press the IN button on the top right rear of the 703 Ti Stand. By doing this Methanol is transferred from Methanol Bottle to the titration vessel. Fill Methanol until the diaphragm of the electrode is fully dipped in Methanol and stop pressing the button.
5.4 When the color of the contents is very dark press the OUT button on the top right rear of the 703 Ti Stand so that the contents from the titration vessel are transferred to the Waste bottle. Then refill Methanol again by pressing IN Button. If there is a precipitation found in the titration vessel, then clean the titration vessel and refill Methanol.
5.5 Double Click on the Tinet 2.5 Icon.
5.6 Metrohm Tinet window appears which is used for operating the instrument.
5.7 Select Titration in Metrohm Tinet window and Click on it.
5.8 Titration window appears. Go to Window and Click on Silo 1.
5.9 Another window appears with the status message Init indicating the initialization.
5.10 Once the initialization is over, a window appears with the message Error in device 794_1. Click Cancel. Then the status message will be Ready.
5.11 Fill the user name, Remark, sample size etc. details.
5.12 In the sample data Box, in the Method field, select the method KF Factor determination. Go to command and click on Load method.
5.13 When the status message is Ready, Click the COND icon that is highlighted in Red Color. The instrument gets conditioned now and status message indicated it.
5.14 Once the conditioning is over, the status message indicates Ready. Click the Start button highlighted in Red color. Another window appears with the message Add sample and press Cancel.
6.0 PROCEDURE FOR KF FACTOR DETERMINATION:
6.1 Weight accurately about 0.2000 g of Merck make A.R. Grade Disodium Tartrate (DST) and transfer it to the titration vessel. Fill the Sample size. Check whether all the parameters are filled and then Click Cancel.
6.2 The titration starts automatically and during the titration, the status message will indicate Busy.
6.3 Once the titration completes, it stops automatically and the status message will be Ready.
6.4 Again weigh about 0.2000g of DST. Click Start.
6.5 Like this repeat the titration until you get three concordant results consecutively.
6.6 Take average from the three KF Factor values and Fix it as KF for that day.
6.7 This KF factor determination is to be done at least once every day before doing the water determination.
7.0 PROCEDURE FOR DETERMINATION OF WATER CONTENT:
7.1 After KF determination is over and when the status message is Ready in the Titration window, In Sample data box, in the Method field, Select the method KF Water Determination Solid / Liquid depending on whether the sample is Solid or Liquid.
7.2 Go to command and click on Load method. Then enter the Name, sample size etc., details. Fill the KF Factor for the day determined as above in Id 1 field.
7.3 When the Status message is Ready, Click the start icon that is highlighted in Red color.
7.4 A window appears with a message Add sample and press Cancel.
7.5 Weigh the recommended amount of sample and transfer to the titration vessel, enter the sample size. Check whether all the other parameters are filled and then Click Cancel. Titration Starts automatically and the Analysis is done. During the titration, the status message will indicate Busy. Once the titration completes, it stops automatically and status message will be Ready.
7.6 To take the printout of report, go to Window and click on Silo Report. The report is displayed. Give print command to get printout.
7.7 When the titrations for the day are over, close the Metrohm Tinet window. Switch of the PC and the Instrument.
