1.0 PURPOSE
1.1 To lay down the procedure for operation of Sartorius Analytical Balance.
2.0 SCOPE
2.1 This procedure is applicable for the operation of analytical balance model no. Sartorius CPXXXXX with identification nos. QAXXXXX & QAXXXXX in XXXXXlaboratory Module I and II of C-block

5.0 PROCEDURE
5.1 Ensure that the working area and balance surrounding is clean.
5.2 Clean the weighing pan with a small brush.
5.3 Check all the doors of the balance are closed.
5.4 Adjust the spirit level of the balance to center by rotating the leveling knobs provided at the bottom.
5.5 Connect the instrument to 230 volts A/C power supply.
5.6 Switch on the balance, press and hold “” button.
5.7 Press the ‘TARE’ button before weighing; ensure that 0.0000 gm is displayed on the digital display board, if grams can be changed in to mg by pressing “F” key.
5.8 Open the side door of the balance and place the object to be weighed on the weighing pan, in case of liquids open the top door of the balance.
5.9 If required, tare the weight of the object b pressing ‘TARE’ button.
5.10 Weigh the sample as per the required quantity.
5.11 Close the door, wait till the weight stabilizes and record in to analytical balance logbook as per Annexure-I (as per QA SOP format no.XXXXX-current version).
5.12 Take out the print out by press and hold button either on the balance or on the printer wherever if it is necessary.
5.13 Switch off the instrument, press and hold button at the end of day whenever required.
