1.0 PURPOSE:
To describe a standard operating procedure (SOP) for packing & labeling and commercial transfer.
2.0 SCOPE:
The SOP describes in detail the method of packing & labeling and commercial transfer of intermediates and finished products.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY:
The responsibility of packing & labeling and commercial transfer as per the SOP lies with the staff of the rank not lower than supervisor of the production department.
The responsibility of preparing, reviewing and approving the SOP lies with the Officer (Production), Head of Production and Head of QAD respectively.
4.0 METHOD:
4.1 As per the delivery schedules, General Manager (Production) informs the concerned Executive (Prodn.) and Commercial department for packing the material and completing the relevant excise formalities respectively.
4.2 Packing incharge from Production department raises packing material indent to obtain packing materials. He shall then get the containers cleaned with Industrial Methylated spirit and informs QC Department to check the containers
4.3 After receiving the authorisation for packing from QC department packing incharge shall pack and records the details of weights in the packing and labeling record in coordination with QC chemist.
4.4 Packing incharge fixes labels on each container. Labels shall contain the information such as Batch No. Manufacturing Date, Pack.No. Expiry date, Gross wt., Tare wt., and Net Wt. He gets containers sealed in presence of QC chemist.
4.5 A Commercial transfers note shall be prepared by the packing incharge in duplicate and sent to Commercial Department alongwith the material.
5.0 RECORDING:
Packing & Labeling and commercial transfer operations will be recorded by supervisor in the packing & Labeling and commercial transfer record.
