1.0 Purpose :
To lay down the Procedure for the Operation of Digital Colony Counter.
2.0 Scope :
This procedure applies to count the microbial colonies in digital colony counter where ever it is applicable.

3.0 Responsibility:
3.1 Person from concerned department directly involved in the activity shall be responsible for operation of digital colony counter.
4.0 Definitions/Abbreviations: Nil
5.0 Procedure
5.1 Switch ON the instrument.
5.2 Clean the surface of the wolffhuegel glass and keep the petridish on it. Ensure that the plug of the auto marker pen is connected to the probe socket provided.
5.3 Adjust the magnifying lens in a convenient position.
5.4 Mark the colonies with the auto marker pen and beep indicates that the count has been made.
5.5 The marking ensures colonies are already counted.
5.6 Check the display for the number of colonies counted.
5.7 Press the reset after counting of the colonies of each plate.
5.8 Switch OFF the instrument after the counting is over.
