Abstract


Pharmacovigilance system is a branch of pharmacological sciences dealing with reporting of Adverse Reaction Events which are caused by medicines and/or medical devices.The development of a better system of reporting ADRs has been recommended as a top priority action to prevent ADRs and ADEs.To understand pharmacovigilance a high level of expertise is required to rapidly detect drug risks as well as to defend the product against an inappropriate removal.Greater integration of pharmacovigilance into clinical practice is still needed. Hence this article introduces basic knowledge of Pv, history, need, basic terms, ADRs, SADRs, UADRs, SAE, reporting of Pv to one such profession where pharmacists can extend their roles as providers of service which promotes drug safety.
