1.0    OBJECTIVE

1.1    To lay down a Procedure for Operation, and Calibration of MAS –100 Air Sampler. Equipment ID No -xxxxx

2.0    SCOPE

2.1    This SOP covers the Operation, Cleaning and Calibration procedure for Air Sampling.

5.0    PROCEDURE            

5.1         Operation

5.1.1    Place the MAS –100 Air Sampler on a firm support.
5.1.2    Press  “ YES” to turn ON the MAS –100.
5.1.3    After power – on, the MAS –100 displays the software with the current battery charge, followed by the most recent aspirated volume.
5.1.4    Check the instrument battery 
5.1.5    When the power unit is connected and the MAS –100 is in “Sleep Mode”, “Battery Charging” appears in the display and the red LED lights.
5.1.6    Once the battery is fully charged it appears “Battery OK”.
5.1.7    Open the perforated lid (With attached dust cover) by rotating to the right.
5.1.8    Place a closed standard Petri dish filled with agar on top of the dish support.
5.1.9     Remove the lid off the Petri dish.
5.1.10    Close the MAS –100 perforated lid
5.1.11    The sampling head can be adjusted to any angle from horizontal to vertical airflow direction.
5.1.12    Program the MAS –100 as per flow chart in Appendix -I 
5.1.13    Remove the dust cover and start the collection cycle by pressing the “YES” button in the “START? ” menu.
5.1.14    After the collection cycle the red LED will light up and the sampled volume will be displayed.
5.1.15    Open the sampling head, close the petri dish with the petri dish cover, and remove.
5.1.16    The petri dish is now ready for incubation.
5.1.17    After incubation enter the details of observed colonies in Annexure –II.
5.1.18    After the test the instrument will display “ passed test completed” , which signifies that the set volume was collected with out interruption and the collection processes is valid.
5.1.19    Enter the Usage time of the instrument in Annexure-I
5.1.20    Switching off 
5.1.21    After a collection cycle the instrument will display the last volume collected.
5.1.22    Press “YES” or “NO” to activate the 5- minute automatic shut – off.

5.2    Sanitization
    
5.2.1    Wipe the instrument before each sampling cycle with 70% Iso Propyl Alcohol / suitable disinfectant and air dry.
5.2.2    Take OFF the Perforated lid (With attached dust cover) by rotating to the right and Disinfect by 70% Iso Propyl Alcohol before sampling.
5.2.3    Enter the details of cleaning in Annexure –I.

5.3    Calibration

 5.3.1    Follow as per Appendix – I.
