1.0 PURPOSE:
To describe a standard operating procedure for breakdown rectification of an air handling system.
2.0 SCOPE:
The standard operating procedure describes in detail the method to be followed in breakdown rectification of an air handling system which includes centrifugal blowers, exhaust blower, filters and diffusers.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY:
The responsibility of carrying out breakdown rectification of an air handling system lies with the staff of rank not lower than the junior utility operator.
The responsibility of preparing, reviewing and approving the standard operating procedure lies with the Manager - Maintenance, Head of Production and Head of QAD respectively.
4.0 METHOD:
4.1 Rectification of burnt motor/damaged blower:
4.1.1 Isolate the equipment electrically.
4.1.2 Separate the motor/blower from the equipment.
4.1.3 Send the motor/blower to outside agency for rectification as per SOP SENDING OUT EQUIPMENT FOR RECTIFICATION TO THE OUTSIDE AGENCY.
4.1.4 After receiving the motor/blower from the outside agency fix the motor/blower to the equipment and check for the proper alignment.
4.1.5 Restore the power supply to the equipment.
4.2.0 Rectification of low air inflow:
4.2.1 Isolate the equipment electrically.
4.2.2 Remove AHU suction filters doors.
4.2.3 Remove prefilters and fine filters from the system.
4.2.4 Using air jet (not morethan 1 kg/cm2 pressure) first clean from nondust laiden face of the filter (reverse direction of air flow in system) and then from the other side.
4.2.5 Clean the filter by hosing with water as per the procedure mentioned in 4.2.4.
4.2.6 Dry the filter with air jet and fix back them in the reverse order of dismantling.
4.2.7 Check the blower fan condition and alignment, if necessary rectify/replace it.
4.3.0 Rectification of high pressure in the rooms:
4.3.1 The main reason of developing high pressure in the rooms is chocking of exhaust filters, so clean the exhaust filters as mentioned in the below steps.
4.3.2 Remove protection grill by unbolting.
4.3.3 Remove exhaust filters from the position.
4.3.4 Clean the filer with air. First clean from non dust laiden surface of filter (pressure should not exceed 1 kg/cm2) and then clean from other side.
4.3.5 Clean the filter with water as mentioned in 4.3.4.
4.3.6 Dry the filters with air jet and refix them in position.
4.3.7 Fix the protection grill.
4.4.0 Rectification of Refrigeration unit of air washer unit:
4.4.1 Carry out rectification of refrigeration unit by the authorized agency.
4.5 Frequency: As and when necessary.
5.0 RECORDING:
The responsibility of recording the breakdown rectification in the history card lies with the staff of rank not lower than the maintenance supervisor.
