1.0 PURPOSE:
To describe a standard operating procedure for breakdown rectification of fluid bed dryer.
2.0 SCOPE:
The standard operating procedure describes in detail the method of breakdown rectification of fluid bed dryer.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY:
The responsibility of breakdown rectification of fluid bed dryer lies with the staff of rank not lower than maintenance supervisor of maintenance department.
The responsibility of preparing, reviewing and approving the standard operating procedure lies with the Manager - Maintenance, Head of Production and Head of QAD respectively.
4.0 METHOD:
4.1 Improper fluidisation:
4.1.1 This can happen due to blower not functioning properly.
4.1.2 Take out the product container and retarding chamber.
4.1.3 De link the finger bag from the hook.
4.1.4 Check the impeller of the blower. If the impeller blades are found broken, replace the impeller.
4.1.5 Fix the finger bag, retarding chamber and product container.
4.1.6 Start the blower and check for proper fluidisation.
4.2 Chocking of bottom mesh of product container :
4.2.1 Chocked mesh to be dechocked using compressed air/water.
4.3 Chocking of finger bag filters:
4.3.1 This can be rectified by shaking the bag thoroughly by manual shaking arrangement or replace with new finger bag as follows.
4.3.2 Take-out the product container from the shoe.
4.3.3 Take-out Fluidising/Retarding chamber.
4.3.4 Delink the finger bag from the hooks.
4.3.5 Fix the new finger bag to the hooks.
4.3.6 Fix the Fluidising chamber and product container.
4.4 Improper drying or more drying time:
4.4.1 This may happen due to poor fluidisation (this may be due to creation of low suction by blower), low temperature (This may be due to less steam pressure, malfunctioning of steam trap).Check for any of the above problem and rectify accordingly.
5.0 RECORDING:
The responsibility of recording breakdown rectification in the history card as per SOP lies with staff of rank not lower than the maintenance Engineer.
