CLEANING REPLACING THE FILTERS OF VARIOUS EQUIPMENT

Description

1.0  PURPOSE:
    
    To describe  a  standard operating procedure for   Cleaning  /  Replacing the  filters of various equipment.
    
2.0    SCOPE:
    
     The Standard operating procedure describes in detail the method  of Cleaning / Replacing the filters of various equipment.
    
3.0    RESPONSIBILITY:
    
    The responsibility  of  cleaning the  filters as per the  standard operating procedure lies with the staff of rank not  lower  than  junior utility operator under the supervision  of  supervisor.
        
The  responsibility of preparing, reviewing  and approving  the  standard  operating  procedure lies with the  Manager  -  Maintenance, Head of Production and Head of QAD respectively.
    
4.0    METHOD:
    
    SAMPLING BOOTH (DESPENCING BOOTH) : & FBD
    
4.1     Cleaning  Procedure for pre filters: 
    
4.1.1      Isolate the equipment electrically.
    
4.1.2      Open the filter plenum door.
    
4.1.3      Remove the filters from filter plenum
    
4.1.4      Using air jet (with not more than 1 Kg/cm2 pressure) clean the   non-dust  laiden face of the filter (reverse direction  of  air   flow in system) and then from the other side.
    
4.1.5      Clean  the  filter by hosing with water as  per  the  procedure  mentioned in 4.1.4.
    
4.1.6      Allow the filters to dry for 2 hours.
    
4.1.7    Before fixing the filters check the intactness of gaskets.
    
4.1.8    If the gasket is found damaged, replace the gasket.
    
4.1.9    If the filter is found damaged during cleaning, replace the filter.
    
4.1.10    Record the details in Annexure-I.
    
4.1.11    Frequency:  

Filters to be cleaned once in a month ± 2 days. 
    
4.1.12
A tag with the following details shall be displayed at the respective equipment.

4.2    MICRONIZER:

4.2.1       Cleaning of filters.

4.2.1.1     Isolate the Air compressor electrically.

4.2.1.2     Ensure that there is no air pressure in the line.

    
4.2.1.3     Remove both the filter casings.

4.2.1.4     Remove both the filter elements by unscrewing the bolt provided  at bottom of the filter elements.

4.2.1.5    Apply  air pressure (about 2 Kg/cm2) from the non  dust  laiden  side for above 10 min.

4.2.1.6      Re-fix the filter elements to the system. Record the details in Annexure-I. 

4.2.1.7      A tag with the following details shall be displayed at the equipment.

4.2.9      Frequency:  

Filter elements are to be cleaned once in  a  month  ± 2 days and should be replaced once in a year ± 15 days.

4.3    Micron filters at DM water plant & other areas
    
4.3.1    Micron filters to be replaced once in a year.
    
4.3.2    A Tag with the following details to be tied to the Micron filters.

5.0        RECORDING:

    The responsibility of recording the details of filter cleaning and replacement in the annexure lies with the staff of rank not lower than the supervisor.
