1.0 PURPOSE:
To describe a standard operating procedure (SOP) for drying in fluid bed dryer.
2.0 SCOPE:
The SOP describes in detail the method of drying in fluid bed dryer.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY:
The responsibility of drying in fluid bed dryer as per the SOP lies with the staff of the rank not lower than operator of the production department.
The responsibility of preparing, reviewing and approving the SOP lies with the Officer (Production), Head of Production and Head of QAD respectively.
4.0 METHOD:
4.1 Load the wet material in the bowl on the trolley. Break the lumps and evenly distribute it.
4.2 Roll the trolley into position over the shoe.
4.3 Raise the bowl and lock it with the retarding chamber by moving downwards the spool from the neutral position of the pneumatic spool valve-I.
4.4 Open the damper in the neck of the blower by moving upwards the spool of the pneumatic spool valve-II.
4.5 Switch "ON" the blower and air dry for 30 min.
4.6 Start heating by opening the steam valve to get desired temper ature by adjusting the steam inlet valve for 20 min.
4.7 Dry the material at the desired temperature for 1 hour 15 min. close the steam valve, allow to cool to room temperature. Switch "OFF" Close the blower by moving downwards the spool to neutral position of the pneumatic spool valve-II. Shake the finger bags.
4.8 Open the lock of bowl by moving upward the spool of the pneumatic spool valve-I.
5.0 RECORDING:
The responsibility of recording the drying operations in the drying record attached to the batch manufacturing sheet lies with the operator.
