Entry and Exit Procedure for Microbiological Testing Room

1.0    OBJECTIVE:  

To lay down a procedure for entry and exit procedure for microbiological testing room.

2.0    SCOPE:  

This SOP is applicable to the entry and exit procedure for microbiological testing room in Microbiology laboratory.

3.0    RESPONSIBILITY: 

Microbiologist – To perform the procedure as per SOP.

Head Quality Control – To ensure the compliance of the SOP.

4.0    PROCEDURE: 

4.1    Procedure for entry into Microbiological testing room:

4.1.1    Enter into the Air lock – I and remove Lab shoe in Air lock – I.

4.1.2    Cross over the bench.

4.1.3    Enter the Air lock – II, wear gloves, headgear, clean washed gown, booties and then tuck the gown in the booties. 

4.1.4 Enter into the Air lock – III and disinfect the hands with Sterillum / 70% IPA and then enter into the microbiological testing room .

4.1.5    Perform the analysis in testing area under LAF. 

4.2    Procedure for exit from Microbiological testing room:

4.2.1    After completion of work, enter into Return Air lock.

4.2.2 Remove the booties, gowns, headgear, and gloves and placed in used garments box. Wear shoe cover and exit from return change room.

4.2.3    Enter into Air lock- I, remove shoe cover and wear lab shoe.

4.2.4    Exit from Air lock-I

4.2.5    The visitors shall also follow the same procedure mentioned above.

4.3    Precautions:

4.3.1    The person suffering from cough and cold shall not enter microbiological testing Area.

4.3.2    The person with wounds shall not enter microbiological testing area.

4.3.3    Ensure that both the doors of change rooms are not open at a time.
