Handling Of Scrap In The Laboratory

1.0       PURPOSE:

            1.1      To lay down the procedure for handling of scrap in the laboratory.

2.0       SCOPE:

            2.1     This SOP is applicable for handling of scrap in the laboratory in Quality control department.

3.0        RESPONSIBILITY:

            3.1      xxxxxxxxxxx- QC

4.0       ACCOUNTABILITY:

            4.1     xxxxxxxxxxx- QC

5.0       PROCEDURE:

           5.1      Scrap shall be distinguished as solid waste, liquid waste, used reagent bottles, broken glassware and waste papers.

           5.2      Solid waste and waste papers shall be collected in close dustbin.

           5.3      Collected waste shall be transferred to poly bag and destroy in boiler.

           5.4      Used reagent bottles and broken glassware shall be transferred to common scrap area.

           5.5      Liquid waste shall be collected in a carboy and once in a weak to be sent to ETP for disposal.
