INSTALLING THE SOLVENT RECOVERY COLUMN

1.0 PURPOSE:
    
    To  describe  a  standard operating procedure  for  installing  the   solvent recovery column. 
    
2.0    SCOPE:
    
    The  standard  operating  procedure describes  in  detail  the   method of installing the solvent recovery column.         
    
3.0    RESPONSIBILITY:
    
    The responsibility  of installing the solvent recovery  column    lies  with  the staff of rank not lower than  the  maintenance  engineer. 
              
The responsibility of preparing, reviewing  and approving  the  standard  operating  procedure lies with the Manager  -  Maintenance,  Head of Production and Head of QAD respectively.
    
4.0    METHOD:
    
4.1    Locate  the site where the solvent  recovery column has to  be  installed.
        
4.2         Construct foundation to seat the pedestals of the distillation still.

4.3         Place the distillation  still on the foundation.

4.4         Check the level of the still with spirit  level.

4.5        Place the sieve tray segment-1 on the distillation still,  fix  it and check the level.

4.6         Place  the  sieve tray segment-2 on the segment-1, fix it  and  check the level.

4.7         Fix the top cover to the sieve tray segment-2. 

4.8         Make a platform  around the top of first sieve tray segment.

4.9        Place the two condensers on the platform  and fix them.

4.10        Fix third condenser, above  the previous two condensers.

4.11        Construct foundation for the pumps.

4.12        Place the pumps on the foundation and give electrical  connections.

4.13        Construct foundation for reactor structure and fourth condenser.

4.14        Fix  the reactor and condenser structures on the foundation.

4.15        Place the reactor and condenser on  structure and fix them.

4.16       Make a platform for reactor.

4.17        Give electrical connection to the reactor motor.

4.18        Construct foundation for receivers structure.

4.19       Fix the structures on foundation.

4.20       Place the receivers on structures and fix them.

4.21        Interconnect all the equipments as per the planned layout.

4.22        Give  service lines like steam, chilled water and tower  water   as per the layout.

4.23        Insulate  the distillation still, sieve tray  column  segments  and steam lines with mineral wool.

4.24        Arrange digital thermometer in the  thermometer pocket provided on the distillation still.

5.0         RECORDING:

    The  responsibility of recording the installation  details  in  the  history card  lies with staff of rank not lower than  the  maintenance engineer.
