International Tea Day: These five types of infusions will keep you healthy!

December 15 is annually observed as International Tea Day and has been celebrated since 2005 in tea producing countries like Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Vietnam, Indonesia, Kenya, Malawi, Malaysia, Uganda, India and Tanzania.
 
The day was to make the world aware of the impact of the global tea trade on workers and growers and has often triggered requests for price supports and fair trade.
 
The first International Tea Day was celebrated in New Delhi in 2005.
 
1. Green Tea:
 
This infusion has many fans across the world because of weight loss properties. Its subtle flavours and antioxidants have made it a favourite among tea lovers and its health benefits are an added bonus. Besides aiding in weight loss, green tea also promotes brain function and reduces the risk of cancer.
 
2. Chamomile Tea:

A chamomile infusion is known worldwide for having a soothing, calming effect on the nerves, when one is under stress. From stomach cramps and insomnia to migraines and allergies, chamomile tea has earned its popularity as one of the most recommended teas. Popular uses of chamomile preparations include treating hay fever, inflammation, muscle spasms, menstrual disorders, ulcers, gastrointestinal disorders, and haemorrhoids. Chamomile tea is also used to treat skin conditions such as eczema, chickenpox and psoriasis.
 
3. Black Tea:

Due to its low caffeine content, many people across the globe prefer their tea without milk. It boosts circulation, while the its fluoride content promotes oral and bone health. Unlike green tea, black tea, once processed eliminates all antioxidants existing in it.
 
4. White Tea:
White Tea
 
White tea generally features young and/or minimally processed leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. The infusion adds value to health by reducing the risk of cancer, cardiovascular disorder and improving oral health. It has antioxidant and anti-aging properties which help in maintaining good health and healthy skin. It generates large amounts of caffeine when brewed for longer durations.
 
5. Oolong Tea:

This infusion is a traditional Chinese tea and is also called 'wulong' tea. It's rich content of antioxidants help in the reduction of chronic health conditions such as heart disease, inflammatory disorders and high cholesterol levels. Apart from these benefits, it also helps in weight loss and promotes healthier skin. According to the Tea Association of the United States, oolong tea falls somewhere between green and black teas, as its leaves are only partially oxidized.
