Description

1.0  PURPOSE:

To  describe  a  standard operating procedure for numbering  of  equipments.

2.0    SCOPE:

The standard operating procedure describes in detail the method of numbering of equipments. The equipment include reactors, receivers, addition vessels, condensors, nutsch filters, pressure filters, air ovens, centrifuges, sifters, blenders, micronizers, chariots, solvent lifting pumps, utility pumps, leaf filters,  millers, chilled water compressors, brine compressors, air compressors,  DM water plants, softners, boilers, DG sets,  transformers,  distilled water plants, solvent recovery columns, vacuum pumps,  blowers,  exhaust fans,  cooling towers,  air  handling systems,  fluid  bed driers, air exhaust  systems, storage  tanks, line filters, micron filters, purified water systems, vacuum dryer, air conditioners and compressed air dryers.

3.0    RESPONSIBILITY:

The  responsibility   of  numbering of equipments  as  per  the  standard operating procedure lies with staff of rank not lower than the Maintenance engineers.

The  responsibility of preparing, reviewing  and approving  the  standard  operating  procedure lies with the  Manager  -  Maintenance,  Head of Production and Head of QAD respectively.

4.0    METHOD:

4.1      For  reactors, numbering starts with 1100 and proceeds with  the  increments  of  100 till all the reactors  are  completed.  The   reactors  in Block-I & II shall have the prefix 'S' while  those  in other Blocks shall have the prefix 'C'.

4.2        Addition  vessels and receivers connected to the  reactor  shall have  the same number as that of the reactor with  suffix   "A"  and "B" respectively.
4.3
If one or more receivers are connected to the same reactor they  shall be given the same number as that of reactor  with  suffix  B1,  B2, B3 ...... (Example : S3200B1, S3200B2, .......).    If  one or more addition vessels are connected to the same reactor   they  shall  be given the same number as that  of  reactor  with   suffix   A, A1,  A2,  ....  .  (Example  :  S3800A,   S3800A1,  S3800A2, ....).

4.4        If two or more reactors have common addition vessel, the  addition  vessel  shall be given the lowest number of  the  reactors  with suffix 'A'.
(Ex: S3200 and S3300 connected with common addition vessel, the number of addition vessel shall be S3200A)

4.5        If  two or more reactors have one or more common addition  vessels,  the addition vessels shall be given the lowest number  of  the reactors with suffix A, A1, A2...... (Ex: S3400 and S3500 connected with two or more addition vessels, the number of addition vessels shall be S3400A, S3400A1, S3400A2 etc.)

4.6    If two are more reactors have common receiver the receiver shall be given the lowest number of the reactors with suffix ‘B’
(Ex: S3100 and S3200 connected with a common receiver the number of receiver shall be S3100B.)

4.7        If two or more reactors have one or more common receivers,  the  receiver  shall  be  given the lowest number  of  reactors  with  suffix 'B1','B2','B3'...... .
(Ex: S3200 and S3300 connected with two or more common receivers the numbers of receivers shall be S3200B1, S3200B2, S3200B3,…..)

4.8    The condensors connected to the reactor shall have the same number as that of the reactor with suffix ‘C’.

4.9    If more than one condensors are connected to the same reactor they shall be given same number as that of reactor with suffix 'C1', 'C2', 'C3'…..
(Example: S3200C1, S3200C2….)

4.10    The  nutsch filters, pressure filters, air ovens,  centrifuges,  sifters,   blenders, micronizers,  chariots,  solvent  lifting   pumps,  utility  pumps, leaf filters,  millers, chilled  water  compressors,  brine  compressors,  air  compressors,  DM  water plants,  softners,  boilers, DG sets,  transformers,  distilled   water plants,
solvent recovery columns, vacuum pumps,  blowers,  exhaust  fans, cooling towers, air handling systems,  fluid  bed  driers,  air  exhaust  systems, storage  tanks,  line filters, micron filters, purified water systems, vacuum dryer, air conditioners, compressed air dryers and scrubbing systems are  given the  numbers

4.11        If any equipment is replaced, a new number shall be given to the  new  equipment. If the equipment  is shifted to another  location,  the equipment shall have its own number in the new  location also.

5.0        RECORDING:

The  responsibility of preparing equipment list lies  with  the   staff of rank not lower than the Maintenance Engineer as  shown   in annexure-I.
