opening and closing of Microbiology Laboratory

1.0    OBJECTIVE:  

    To lay down a procedure for opening and closing of Microbiology Laboratory.

2.0    SCOPE:  

    This SOP is applicable to the opening and closing of Microbiology Laboratory.

3.0    RESPONSIBILITY: 

    Microbiologist – To perform the operation as per SOP.

    Head - Quality Control – To ensure the compliance of the SOP.

4.0    PROCEDURE: 

4.1    Procedure for entry into microbiology laboratory: 

4.1.1    Obtain the keys of the Microbiology Laboratory from the security office. 

4.1.2    Enter into change room of QC.

4.1.3    Remove personal things in change room and kept in assigned shelf.

4.1.4    Take out a clean apron and cap from the assigned shelf and wear it. Care shall be taken that the hair is completely covered by the cap.

4.1.5    Open the main (Entrance) door of the Microbiology Laboratory with the key assigned.

4.1.6   Remove the foot wear and place them on the shelf assigned out side the Microbiology lab.

4.1.7 Use a pair of shoe covers and head cap if factory shoe is not available.

4.1.8    Enter into the Microbiology Laboratory.

4.1.9    Close the main (Entrance) door of the Microbiology Laboratory.

4.1.10    Enter the areas of Microbiology Laboratory (Except Microbiology testing area).

4.2    Procedure for exit from the Microbiology Laboratory:

4.2.1    Open the main (Entrance) door of the Microbiology Laboratory and come outside and close the main door.

4.2.2    Remove the shoe cover and Head cap place them in  the shelf assigned for the same and wear street  footwear.

4.2.3    Exit from the laboratory. Proceed to change room.

4.2.4    Remove the apron and cap and fold them neatly. Place them in the shelf assigned for the same.

4.3    Procedure for close down of Microbiology Laboratory: 

4.3.1    At the end of the day, close down the Microbiology Laboratory by following the Microbiology Laboratory Closedown hecklist 

4.3.2    Switch off the all lights, equipments and instruments except for refrigerator and incubators.

4.3.3    Close the main (Entrance) door of the Microbiology Laboratory.

4.3.4    Lock the main door.
