1.0 PURPOSE:
To describe a standard operating procedure (SOP) for operating Miller ML4.
2.0 SCOPE:
The SOP describes in detail the method for operating Miller ML4.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY:
The responsibility of operating Miller ML4 lies with the staff of the rank not lower than operator of the production department.
The responsibility of preparing, reviewing and approving the SOP lies with the Dy. Manager (Production), Head of Production and Head of QAD respectively.
4.0 METHOD:
4.1 Assemble the rotor and the blades. The scrapper blades have to be in the lowest groove and the blades should be fitted with their knife-edge in forward (clockwise) direction.
4.2 Secure blades with retaining pins and mount rotor in position by bolt.
4.3 Mount desired mesh (screen) on the mesh holding plate and mount holding plate on the studs, lock by rotating clamp with wing nuts.
4.4 Mount discharge hopper with wing nuts.
4.5 Place the collecting drums with double polythene bags below discharge hopper and tie polythene bags to the hopper.
4.6 Switch on the miller and charge material slowly with a scoop into the charging hopper.
4.7 Release slowly the feeder screw and charge material at a study rate.
4.8 Switch off the miller when milling is completed, untie polythene bags fitted to discharge hopper and collect material.
