1.0 PURPOSE:
1.1 To lay down the procedure for condition and regeneration of GC columns.
2.0 SCOPE:
2.1 This SOP is applicable for condition and regeneration of GC columns in Quality control department.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY:

5.0 PROCEDURE:
5.1 Condition:
5.1.1 All columns shall be conditioned before and after analysis.
5.1.2 Column conditioned shall be minimum one hour.
5.1.3 Column condition temperature parameters mentioned as below.
Detector temperature : 300°C.
Injector temperature : 300°C.
Oven temperature : 280°C.
Column pressure : 50 KPA
5.2 Regeneration:
5.2.1 Column regeneration by using regeneration kit or closed vial.
5.2.2 Flush with solvents follow one by one.
5.2.3 Take methanol in closed vial and put the out let of the nitrogen line and in let of the column.
5.2.4 Apply 10 – 15 PSI pressure to force the solvent through the column.
5.2.5 Flush the column ten minutes with methanol
5.2.6 Follow the above procedure flush with methylene chloride and hexane.
5.2.7 After flushing the hexane, allow the gas (with out solvent) through the column for five to ten minutes.
