OPERATING OF FLUID BED DRYER

1.0    PURPOSE:
    
         To  describe   a  standard operating procedure  (SOP) for  operating of  fluid bed dryer 
    
2.0    SCOPE:
    
        The SOP describes in detail the method of operating fluid bed dryer 
    
3.0    RESPONSIBILITY:
    
    The  responsibility   of operating fluid bed dryer FD-03 lies with the staff of the rank not lower than operator of the production department.
    
    The responsibility of preparing, reviewing and approving the SOP lies with the Dy. Manager (Production), Head of Production and Head of QAD  respectively.
    
4.0    METHOD:
    
4.1    Load the wet material into container mounted on the trolley, break lumps and evenly distribute it.
    
4.2    Wheel in the trolley and fit the filled product container to the drier by means of UP-DOWN spool of pneumatic control valve.
    
4.3    Switch on the controller and set the following parameters on programmable logic controller (PLC) using Up-down keys.

Note: Incase of failure of PLC parameters like cycle time and temperatures can be followed manually. 

4.4    Ensure that product container is earthed with spring loaded earthing arrangement provided on main frame.
    
4.5    Ensure that outlet damper is closed.
    
4.6    Press the START BUTTON and air dry for 60 min.
    
4.7    Start heating by putting on the heater and opening the steam inlet valve to get the desired temperature.
    
4.8    Dry the product at desired temperature for specified time.
    
4.9    Stop heating by putting off the heater and closing steam inlet valve.
    
4.10    Allow it to cool to Room temperature and press STOP BUTTON.
    
4.11    Shake the finger bag and lower the container using UP-DOWN spool of pneumatic control valve.
    
4.12    Wheel out the trolley with product container and unload the dry material.
