I. PURPOSE:
To provide a procedure for operation and calibration of the BLS make Freezer.
II. SCOPE:
This procedure is applicable for the BLS make CIC-71 Freezer being used for
storage of standard materials and samples in the Quality Control department
III. RESPONSIBILITY:
It is the responsibility of all the personnel involved in the analysis using of the equipment.
IV. DOCUMENT REFERENCE:
SOPs : None
Forms : None
V. OPERATION:
1.0 Daily monitoring:
1.1 Check that the instrument and surroundings and clean with a soft cloth duster.
1.1.1Record the temperature daily once between 9.00 to 11.00 am
1.1.2The temperature should be between -200C and –100C.
1.1.3If the temperature out of range inform to the service personnel.
2.0 BASIC OPERATION:
2.1 Before using the Freezer apparatus, check whether it is calibrated or not.If not, call the service personnel for calibration.
- Switch on the instrument by the “MAINS” switch on the control panel of the instrument.
- The control panel consists of
- Microprocessor based Temperature controller.
- Ampere meter.
- Volt meter.
- Fuse.
- To set the desired temperature press set key on Microprocessor based Temperature controller until SP is displayed.
- Press enter.
- After the desired temperature is set keep the sample in the oven and close the door.
- Precautions
- If ampere meter draws more than 3 Ampere then switch “off” the incubator and clean the condenser with air –blower and restart.
- If Volt meter drops less than 180 or exceeds more than 250 Volts than switch off the incubator and restart by using new stabilizer of 4 KVA capacity.
VI. CALIBRATION Calibration Frequency: Once in six months by external agency.
- The calibration should be carried out by external across the full range of temperature i.e from -200C to 00C by using methods and standards traceable to national standards.
- If the instrument fails in calibration, proceed as per the Core Procedure, “Calibration of Equipment”.
