Operation And Cleaning Of Fuming Cupboard

1.0    PURPOSE:

1.1    To lay down the procedure for operation and cleaning of fuming cupboard.

2.0    SCOPE:

2.1    This SOP is applicable for Quality control department.

3.0    RESPONSIBILITY:

3.1    Assistant – Quality Control

4.0    ACCOUNTABILITY:

4.1     Executive – Quality Control

5.0    PROCEDURE:

5.1    Fuming cupboard shall be used to carry out all experiments that generate fumes.  Acids / Toxic chemicals shall be handled in the fuming cupboard.
5.2    Switch on the light
5.3    Push the “GREEN” button to start the exhaust fan.
5.4    Close the sliding door and wait till fumes exhaust, if any
5.5    Wear Safety aids such as Goggles, Gloves, Nose mask etc..
5.6    Lift the sliding door slowly to a height such that the experiment can be conducted from out side without directly exposed to the fumes.
5.7    Close the sliding door completely when the operations do not require any manual handling so that all the fumes generated are sucked effectively.
5.8    Open the sliding door after all the fumes generated are completely driven out.
5.9    After the usage clean the cupboard to remove spillage or stains, if any.

5.10    Clean the sliding glass door to remove condensation drops, if any
5.11    Switch off the exhaust by pressing “RED” button
5.12    Switch off the light.
