1.0    OBJECTIVE:

To lay down a procedure for operation and cleaning of refrigerator.

2.0    SCOPE:

 This procedure is applicable to operation & cleaning of all refrigerators in Quality control laboratory.

3.0    RESPONSIBILITY: 

Officer – QC / Microbiologist: To perform the operation as per SOP.

Head – Quality Control: To ensure the compliance of the SOP.

4.0    PROCEDURE FOR QCE015 & QCE016

4.1.Operation: 

4.1.1Switch on instrument.

4.1.2    Set the thermostat control knob to ‘NORMAL’ position.

4.1.3    Load the refrigerator with the items to be stored between 2°C - 8°C.

Put thermometer in the Refrigerator.

4.1.4    In case the temperature (2°C - 8°C for the chamber) is not achieved increase cooling by setting the thermostat to ‘MAX’ position.

4.1.5To take out the articles, open the door of refrigerator & take out the articles and close the door.

4.2PROCEDURE FOR QCE048

4.2.1 Operation: 

4.2.2  Switch on instrument

4.2.3    Load the refrigerator with the items to be stored between 2°C - 8°C.

4.2.4    Put thermometer in the Refrigerator.

4.2.5   To take out the articles, open the door of refrigerator & take out the articles & and close the door. 

5.0 Cleaning

6.0    Frequency: Weekly Once.

Switch off the Refrigerator. Remove all the items from the refrigerator and clean the inside surfaces and shelves with a non-shedding duster dipped in 2.5% Savlon.

For cleaning of refrigerator (Incubator room), to be used 2.5% Dettol or savlon.  For refrigerator to be used only 2.5% savlon.

7.0    Record the cleaning in the “Equipment Cleaning Register” as per 

    After cleaning, Switch on the refrigerator.
