1.0 PURPOSE:
1.1 To lay down the procedure for operation of BANDELIN SONOREX - SONICATOR.
2.0 SCOPE:
2.1 This procedure is applicable in Quality Control department.

5.0 PROCEDURE:
5.1 Check whether the side knob is closed. This knob is opened for draining the water from the instrument and kept closed while filling the water in the instrument and when the instrument is in use.
5.2 Open the top lid and check the level of water. The optimum level is at least 2/3 height of the vessel.
5.3 Switch on the power.
5.4 Place the container (e.g. beaker, standard flask, mobile phase bottle, etc.) containing the solution to be sonicated in the basket of the sonicator in such a way, that the bottom of the container sits properly on the base of the basket.
5.5 Keep the container open and hold the container. The container is kept open during sonication, because degassing occurs and to facilitate the gas to escape out.
5.6 Set the appropriate sonication time by rotating the MIN knob clockwise. The knob shall be rotation anti clockwise for sonication with heating.
5.7 When the time reading reaches zero, the sonication stops automatically. Remove the container and close the top cover.
Safety instructions:
1. Do not operate without liquid.
2. Maintain 2/3 minimum liquid levels.
3. Do not place parts on bottom of tank, neither baskets nor beakers.
4. Do not use combustible, acidic or chlorinated agents or house hold cleaners.
5. Do not rinse the cleaner, just wipe it with a humid cloth.
6. Do not touch the surfaces when heating is on. Because surface is hot when heating is on.
Sonicator, sonorex, bandelin, cleaners, chlorinated, humid cloth
