Description

 

1.0    PURPOSE:

1.1    To lay down the procedure for operation of  Metrohm 808 Titrando using PC control software.

2.0    SCOPE:

2.1    This scope is applicable to Metrohm Make 808 – Titrando.

3.0    RESPONSIBILITY:

3.1    Junior Assistant/Senior Assistant – QC 
3.2    Senior Executive – QC 

4.0    ACCOUNTABILITY:

4.1    Manager – QC 
4.2    Asst. Manager – QC 

5.0    STARTING THE INSTRUMENT:

5.1    Check whether the Accessories are connected properly.
5.2    Switch on the PC and the Instrument.
5.3    Double Click on the PC Control Icon.
5.4    A window user and password window appears.  Click O.K.
5.5    Another user name and password window appears.  Enter the user name and password.  Click O.K.

5.6    Two windows will appear.  One window will have the message for at least one dosing device, the request to prepare is switched on.  Click O.K.
5.7    A window appears with the fields like User name, Identification 1, Identification 2, Sample size etc and other operating keys.  This is PC Control Window. 

6.0    PROCEDURE USING ALREADY EXISTING METHODS FOR ANALYSIS:

6.1    Click Manual in PC Control Window.  Click Dosing.  Click Prepare.  A window appears with the message, whether burette tips are kept under collection vessel and do you want to continue?
Check the availability of collection vessel from burette tips and click Yes.
6.2    Preparation of the dosing device is started and is displayed diagrammatically on the screen.  Once the preparation is over, Click stop and Exit the window.
6.3    PC control window reappears.  Click system.  Click on Titrants.  A list of titrants is displayed.  Select a titrant by clicking on it and Click Edit.  Enter the parameters as required and click the Back Icon.  Click again on the Back Icon.
6.4    Click on Sensors. A list of electrodes is displayed.  Select a electrode by clicking on it and Click Edit.  Enter the part number of the electrode in the comment box.  Click the Back Icon.  Click again on the Back Icon.
6.5    PC control window reappears.  Click Load Method.  Click Internal Memory Select Main group from the list.  Click Show all.  A list of methods is displayed.  Select the method by clicking on it and click Load.  The PC control window reappears with the current method name indicated in it.
6.6    Click Edit parameters.  Click on method options and click on save automat.  Select the command save determination automatically.  Select card 1 in the Memory field.  Select Main group in Group field.  Fill the file name and Click on Back Icon.  Again click Back Icon.
6.7    Click again on Back Icon.

6.8    PC control window reappears.  Fill the identification etc.  Parameters and click Start.
6.9    The titration starts automatically.
6.10    Once the determination is over, titration stops automatically and results are displayed.
6.11    To take the print out of Report, Click on Print.  Click Report seq. as def. In Method.
6.12    To read the result of current determination, Click Results in PC control window and click more data.  To read the results of the titration performed so far in this Method, Click Results in PC control window.  Click result silo.  Select the file by clicking on it and click Details.

7.0    PROCEDURE CREATING NEW METHODS FOR ANALYSIS:

7.1    Click whether the Accessories are connected properly.
7.2    Switch on the PC and the Instrument.
7.3    Double Click on the PC Control Icon.
7.4    A window user and password window appears.  Click O.K.
7.5    Another user name and password window appears.  Enter the user name and password.  Click O.K.
7.6    Two windows will appear.  One window will have the message For at least one dosing device, the request to prepare is switched on.  Click O.K.
7.7    Another window appears which has the fields like User name, Identification 1, Identification 2, Sample size etc and other operating keys.  This is PC Control Window.  This window is used for all the operations.
7.8    Click Load Method.  Click New Method.  A message Load Method/New method appears on the window.  Select the method from Metrohm method templates list by clicking on it and Click Load Template.

7.9    PC control window appears with the message Current method: New method.
7.10    Click the Edit parameter.  Select titration mode (e.g. DET U or MET U) by clicking it and click Edit Command.
7.11    Click on Start conditions.  Fill the parameters as required.  Click on Back Icon.
7.12    Click on Titration parameters.  Select the parameters as per requirement.  Click on Back Icon.  If we select User here, then Click on User defined parameters.  Set the parameters as per requirement and click on Back Icon.  Click again on Back Icon.
7.13    Click on Stop conditions.  In Stop EP field, select the number of end points expected in the determination.  In Volume after EP field, enter the volume up to which the determination to be continued after the end point.  Click again on Back Icon.
7.14    Click on Pot. Evaluation.  Select the EP recognition (e.g. All or greater), as per requirement.  Click again on Back Icon.
7.15    Click Sensor.  Select the Sensor electrode used.  Click again on Back Icon.  Select the titrant name from the list or enter a new name.  Click again on Back Icon.
7.16    Click on Stirrer.  Select the speed range in the Stirrering rate field.  A speed of 7 or 8 are optimal.  Click again on Back Icon.
7.17    Click Method options.  Click save automat.  Select Save determination automatically.  Select Card 1 in Memory field.  Select Main group in Group field.  (Here new group name can also be given if required).  Enter the file name in the File name field.  Click on Back Icon.  Click again on Back Icon.
7.18    Click on Calculation.  Click Edit command.  Click New.  Select the result name from the list Click Load template. Click Next. A window appears with the message Edit command/Edit result.  Click on Calculation formula R1 box.

7.19    Another window appears with numerical and function keys.  By using this keypad enter the formula.  Click O.K.  Select the number of decimal for result display.  Select the unit of the result factor and click on Back Icon.
7.20    Select Report by clicking it and click Edit command.  Select the Result report by clicking it and Click Edit.  Select the data to be given in the report by clicking the same box in front of the report titles.  Click on Back Icon.
7.21    Click on Curve.  Click on Insert.  Select Calculations form the list by selecting it.  Click on select.  By this way insert result report, calculations and curve.  Click on Back Icon.
7.22    Click Save method.  Enter the file name and click save.  The method is saved now.
7.23    For analysis using this method, proceed as per the Operation procedure using already existing methods for Analysis.
