1.0    PURPOSE:

1.1   To lay down the procedure for operation of Refrigerator.

2.0    SCOPE.

2.1    This SOP is applicable for the Operation of Refrigerator in xxxxx Labs.

3.0    RESPONSIBILITY

3.1    Jr. Assistant-QC

4.0    ACCOUNTABILITY

4.1    Sr. Executive-QC

5.0    PROCEDURE

5.1    Power on the Refrigerator.
5.2    Depending upon the temperature required, access the temperature dial which is situated at first rack central position to adjust the temperature.
5.3    Put the samples in containers with lids in the respective Shelves or Containers.
5.4    Put the Working Standards in the desiccators with the lid in one of the racks.
5.5    Leave sufficient space between the items and in front of the ventilation slots to enable the cool air to circulate freely.

5.6    Close the door to prevent loss of cooling.
5.7    The chiller compartment is placed under the top shelf.

5.7.1    This is used for preparing ice/for preservation.
5.7.2    For making ice cubes, remove the ice cube tray by pulling it towards you.  Fill the tray with water up to the maximum water level marked on the rear of the tray.  Slide the tray back into the holder.  Wait until the ice cubes are formed.
5.7.3    For removing the ice cubes, make sure that the ice cube storage bin is in place under the ice cube tray.  If not, silde it into place.
5.7.4    Twist on of the levers firmly in the clockwise direction until the trays twists slightly.  The ice cubes fall into the storage bin.
5.7.5    Remove the storage bin by Lifting it slightly and Pulling it towards you.

5.8    The Refrigerator to be cleaned regularly with a soft cloth and warm, soapy water.  Rinse and dry the Inside and outside surfaces, Doors and door seals, Shelves, Compartments and ice tray.

5.9    Record the temperature of the Refrigerator as per Annexure-I.
