1.0    PURPOSE:

1.1    To lay down a procedure for swab sampling.

2.0    SCOPE:

2.1    This SOP is applicable for swab sampling in Quality control department.

3.0    RESPONSIBILITY:

3.1    Assistant – Quality Control
3.2    Executive – Quality Control

4.0    ACCOUNTABILITY:

4.1    Manager – Quality Control

5.0    PROCEDURE:

5.1    Texwipe swab of shall be used for swabbing.
5.2    The texwipe swab is soaked with 1 or 2 ml of solvent in which the product has maximum solubility and then carefully applied to the swabbing site.

5.3    Swabbing shall be done as follows:

5.3.1    The texwipe swab is allowed to touch the surface first and move from left   to right.  Then up and down direction.
5.3.2    The texwipe swab should remain on the swabbing site for at least  ten seconds to ensure maximum recovery.
5.3.3    The texwipe swab should then be removed and placed in labeled stoppered test tubes.  Each sample shall be labeled.
5.3.4    Repeat the step no. 5.3.1 to 5.3.3.

5.4    Number of swabs as specified in the protocol are applied in this manner at different locations.
