To lay down the procedure for numbering system of Quality control Equipment / Instruments.

5.0 PROCEDURE
5.1 All Instruments shall be given a unique code of identification.
5.2 Equipment or Instruments identification Number shall be seven digit number as follows
5.2.1 First three Alphabets represents Equipment / Instrument code as given in Appendix-I.
5.2.2 Fourth character is in Alphabet code for respective Block e.g.
5.2.2.1 Q for Central Quality Control Department – Wet and Instruments lab.
5.2.2.2 M for Central Quality Control Department – Microbiology lab
5.2.2.3 A for In-process laboratory in A – Block
5.2.2.4 B for In-process laboratory in B – Block
5.2.2.5 C for In-process laboratory in C – Block and so on
5.2.3 Last three digits are sequential number of particular Equipment / Instrument code in the area.
5.3.3.1 Serial number shall be starts from 001 for each Equipment / Instrument in the Central QC laboratory.
5.3.3.2 For Block wise in-process QC laboratories containing only one module, Serial Number shall be starts from 001 for each Equipment / Instrument.
5.3.3.3 For Block wise in-process QC laboratories containing different modules, Serial Number shall be starts from 101 for Module I, 201 for module II and so on for each module.
Typical Example:
Equipment Number: xxxxx
It represents Analytical Balance of Central Quality Laboratory with serial number.
Equipment Number: xxxxx
It represents Analytical Balance of In-process QC laboratory located in Module I of Block C with serial number.
Equipment Number: xxxxx
It represents Analytical Balance of In-process QC laboratory located in Module II of Block C with serial number.
5.2.4 In case of any new Equipment / Instrument, user department to intimate Equipent / Instrument code no. as per format enclosed in Annexure I.
5.2.5 QC shall maintain the updated list of Equipment / Instrument.
