Description

1.0 PURPOSE:

To describe  standard operating procedure for regeneration and  operation of soft water plant.

2.0    SCOPE:

The  standard  operating  procedure describes  in  detail  the   method of regeneration and operation of  soft water plant.

3.0    RESPONSIBILITY:

The  responsibility   of regenerating and operating  the  soft  water  plant  lies with the staff of rank not lower  than  the junior utility operator of maintenance department.

The responsibility of preparing, reviewing  and approving  the  standard  operating  procedure lies with the Manager  -  Maintenance,  Head of Production and Head of QAD respectively.

4.0    METHOD:

Schematic diagram of soft water plant enclosed in Annexure-III separate sheet.

4.1    FLUSHING:

4.1.1       Close the inlet valve V1 and outlet  valve V2. Open down-rinse  outlet  valve V4, brine ejector power water valve V5 and allow   water to pass downwards through the resin bed.

4.1.2       After 5 minutes, close valves V4 and V5.

4.2         BRINE INJECTION:

4.2.1       Prepare brine solution  in a FRP tub by dissolving   50 kg. of  sodium chloride in 350 liters of water.

4.2.2       Open  downrinse outlet   valve V4, brine ejector  power  water  valve V5 and brine ejector suction valve V6 fully.

4.2.3       Control the rate of injection, by manipulating the valve   V6,  so that   injection of brine solution will be completed in  20  min.

4.2.4       Close valve V6.

4.3         DOWN RINSE:

4.3.1       Adjust  valve  V5 such that the flow of water  is  about  1230 L./hour.

4.3.2       After about 50 min. of down-rinse, close valves V5 and V4.

4.4         FINAL RINSE AND COLLECTION OF SOFT WATER:

4.4.1       Carryout a  final  rinse at the  maximum  flow   rate  (12800  L/hour.)

4.4.2       Open inlet valve V1 and final rinse outlet  valve V3.

4.4.3       After 5 minutes rinsing, give a water sample to QC with new batch number.

4.4.4       If it passes all parameters given in the Annexure-I, open  the  outlet  valve V2 and close V3.

4.4.5       Adjust V2 to get the flow of about 1200 L/hour.

5.0         RECORDING:

The  responsibility of recording the regeneration  details  as  per  the  format shown in annexure-II lies with the  staff  of   rank not lower than the junior utility operator.
