CHECKING MICRONIZER FOR LEAKS (LEAK TEST)

 To describe  a  standard operating procedure (SOP) for  checking micronizer for leaks (leak test).

Description

1.0    PURPOSE:
    
    To describe  a  standard operating procedure (SOP) for  checking micronizer for leaks (leak test).
    
2.0    SCOPE:
    
    The  SOP describes  in  detail  the method  of checking micronizer for leaks  before starting  the micronization operation.
    
3.0    RESPONSIBILITY:
    
    The responsibility  of checking micronizer for leaks (Leak test) as per the SOP lies with the staff of the rank not lower than operator of the production department.
    
    The responsibility of preparing, reviewing and approving the SOP lies with the Officer (Production), Head of Production and Head of QAD  respectively.
    
4.0    METHOD:
    
4.1    Fix jet mill assembly, vibratory feeder, cyclone, hopper, vessels and “0” rings and unions.
    
4.2    Fix the cloth in dust collector and close the door.
    
4.3    Apply 6 - 7 Kg./cm2 air pressure through needle valves.
    
4.4    Check the leaks near vibratory feeder, cyclone, hopper, vessels and ‘0” rings and unions.
    
4.5    If there is any leak, tight the bolts and unions.
    
4.6    Repeat steps 4.3 to 4.5 till the micronizer is free from leaks.
    
4.7    In case the leaks are not rectified, a requisition shall be sent to maintenance department for rectification.
    
5.0    RECORDING:
    
    Checking the micronizer for leaks (leak test) shall be recorded by the staff of rank not lower than operator of the production department in the cleaning of micronizer record as given in annexure-I.
