1.0 PURPOSE:
To describe a standard operating procedure for replacement of V-belts of reactors, vacuum pumps, compressors, air compressors, centrifuges, blowers etc.
2.0 SCOPE:
The standard operating procedure describes in detail the method of replacing
V-belts of reactors, vacuum pumps, compressors, air compressors, centrifuges, blowers etc in the plant.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY:
The responsibility of replacing the V-belts of reactors, vacuum pumps, compressors, air compressors, generators, centrifuges, blowers etc., lies with the staff of rank not lower than junior utility operator of maintenance department.
The responsibility of preparing, reviewing and approving the standard operating procedure lies with the Manager - Maintenance, Head of Production and Head of QAD respectively.
4.0 METHOD:
4.1 Isolate the equipment electrically.
4.2 Remove the belt pulleys guard.
4.3 Adjust the bolts of motor base frame and remove the worn-out belts.
4.4 Place the new suitable belts on the pulleys and adjust the motor position on base frame to the desired tension of the belts.
4.5 Check the alignment and tighten the motor bolts on base frame without disturbing pulleys alignment and tension of V-belts.
4.6 Fix the belt pulleys guard.
4.7 Restore the power supply to the equipment.
