Description

1.0 PURPOSE:

To  describe  a  standard operating procedure for   calibration  of on-line  conductivity  meter in the DM water plant.

2.0    SCOPE:

The standard operating procedure describes in detail the method   for calibration of on-line conductivity meter.

3.0    RESPONSIBILITY:

The  responsibility   for calibration of  on-line  conductivity  meter  as per the standard operating procedure lies with  staff  of rank  not lower than Chargeman of maintenance department.

The  responsibility of preparing, reviewing  and approving  the   standard  operating  procedure lies with the  Manager  -  Maintenance, Head of Production and Head of QAD respectively.

4.0    METHOD:

4.1      Ensure  that the DM Water plant is ready for production  of  DM  Water.

4.2        Switch-on the raw water pump of DM Water plant.

4.3        Switch-on the on-line conductivity  meter.

4.4        Open the water valve  of the on-line conductivity meter.

4.5        Note-down   the conductivity displayed  by the on-line  conductivity  meter  in Annexure-I and at the same time  collect  the  water  sample  in a cleaned glass flask.

4.6        Check the conductivity of the water sample on the  conductivity  meter  situated  in quality control laboratory  and  note  down  reading in Annexure-I.  The QC Laboratory conductivity meter is   calibrated  as per SOP REPLACEMENT OF GASKETS OF PIPE LINES/PUMPS.

4.7        Repeat  the steps  4.5 and 4.6  three times and   tabulate  the   results in Annexure-I.

4.8        If  there  is any deviation between the on-line   reading   and  laboratory  reading,  send the conductivity meter  for  repairs  and calibration.

4.9        Frequency:

The calibration should be done once in a month.

5.0        RECORDING:

The responsibility of recording the results in Annexure-I  lies  with the  staff of rank not lower than the  chargeman of  maintenance department.
