CLEANING OF ADDITION VESSEL

Description

1.0    PURPOSE:
        
        To describe a standard operating procedure (SOP) for cleaning of addition vessel.
    
2.0    SCOPE:
    
        The SOP describes in detail the method of cleaning of addition vessel.
    
3.0    RESPONSIBILITY:
    
        The responsibility of maintaining of cleaning of addition vessel as per the SOP lies with the staff of rank not lower than operator of production department.
    
       The responsibility of preparing, reviewing and approving the SOP lies with the Executive (Production), Head of Production and Head of QAD respectively.
    
4.0    METHOD:
    
4.1    Charge 100 L. of DM water, apply vacuum and open the discharge valve such that the water gets splashed inside the vessel.
    
4.2    Stop and release the vacuum and drain the water.
    
4.3    Charge 10 L. methanol, apply vacuum and open the discharge valve such that the methanol gets splashed inside the vessel.
    
4.4    Stop and release the vacuum unload the methanol into a carbouy and send for recovery.
    
4.5    Charge 10 L. of solvent which is to be used for product, apply vacuum and open the discharge valve such the solvent gets splashed inside the vessel.
    
4.6    Stop and release the vacuum, unload the solvent into a carbouy and send for recovery.
4.7    Repeat Step No. 4.5 and 4.6.
    
4.8    The total time it takes for carrying out steps 4.1 to 4.7 about 40 min.
    
4.9    Frequency: cleaning shall be done, whenever being product change.
    
5.0    RECORDING:
    
    The  responsibility  of recording the  operation  of  cleaning addition vessel lies with the staff of rank  not  lower than the operator as shown in the register.
