        1.1    To lay down the procedure for handling of hazardous and toxic chemicals.

2.0    SCOPE:

        2.1    This SOP is applicable for handling of hazardous and toxic chemicals in Quality control  department.

3.0    RESPONSIBILITY:

         3.1    xxxxxxt - QC 

4.0    ACCOUNTABILITY:

         4.1     xxxxxx- QC

5.0    PROCEDURE:

        5.1    Chemicals shall be segregated based on their chemical properties. 

        5.2    Chemicals shall be segregated as:

                 5.2.1    Acids.
                 5.2.2    Hazardous chemicals.
                 5.2.3    Flammable liquids.
                 5.2.4    Toxic chemicals.

        5.3    All chemicals shall be kept in separate cupboards as per 5.2.
        5.4    Toxic chemicals shall be kept in lock and key control under supervision of Manager quality control.
        5.5    Safety devices like goggles, hand gloves and nose mask shall be used while handling of hazardous and toxic chemicals.

        5.6    Flammable liquid shall be kept away from naked flames, sparks etc.
        5.7    Acids shall be dispensed in fuming cupboard.
        5.8    All hazardous and toxic chemicals MSDS shall be kept in designated area for reference.
