1.0 PURPOSE
To describe the standard operating procedure (SOP) for operation of the scrubber.
2.0 SCOPE
The SOP describes in detail the method for the operation of scrubbers available at different areas of the plant.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY
The responsibility of operating scrubber as per the SOP lies with the staff of the rank not lower than operator of the production department.
The responsibility of preparing, reviewing and approving the SOP lies with the Executive (Production), Head of Production and Head of QAD respectively.
4.0 METHOD
4.1 Starting procedure
4.1.1 Ensure that the scrubber water circulation tank is filled to the minimum 3/4th level. If the level of water in the storage tank is less than the required level, open the water valve and make-up the water to the required level.
4.1.2 Open the circulation pump suction valve.
4.1.3 Switch on the circulation pump and gradually open the discharge valve.
4.1.4 Ensure that the water discharge from the scrubber bottom U-seal.
4.1.5 Switch on the Blower.
4.1.6 Open the Exhaust gas line damper valve available at the reactor.
4.1.7 Maintain the pH of circulating water from 5 to 7 by adding Caustic lye/Caustic soda flakes.
4.1.8 Discharge the water and fill with fresh water for every 2 days operation of the scrubber.
4.2 Stopping procedure
4.2.1 Close the exhaust gas line damper valve at the reactor.
4.2.2 Switch off the Blower.
4.2.3 Switch off the scrubber water circulation pump and close the discharge valve.
4.2.4 Close the pump suction valve.
