Procedure for Operation of Colony Counter

1.0    OBJECTIVE        

1.1    To lay down the procedure for operation of colony counter (OSWORLD) Equipment identification No: xxxxx

2.0    SCOPE

2.1    This SOP covers the Operation procedure of Colony Counter and is applicable in microbiology.          

3.0     RESPONSIBILITY

5.0    PROCEDURE        

5.1    Plug the power cord into the grounded 230 volts supply electrical source and Put on the switch to start up the instrument.
5.2    Adjust the magnifying lens to the appropriate position 
5.2    Switch ON the power followed by MAINS so that the digital counter displays “0000” figure.
5.3    Keep the plate containing colonies on the WOLFFHUEGEL glass base.
5.4    Switch ON the ILLUM button, white color screen of the WOLFFHUEGEL glass base glows.
5.5    Switch ON the audio button that gives a beep sound for each press while counting the colonies.
5.6    Count the colonies by pressing the tip of the marker over the colonies 
5.7    The digital display will give the exact count for the number of times pressed over the plate.
5.8    Press the RESET button to show “0000” figure before counting the next plate.
5.9    Switch OFF the instrument and put under cover when not in use.
5.10   Enter the details in Equipment usage log format given in xxxxx annexure  - I

 ? Clean the instrument daily and keep free from dust.
