REPLACEMENT OF BREAKE LINERS OF CENTRIFUGE

Description

1.0  PURPOSE:
    
    To describe a  standard operating procedure for replacement  of brake liners of centrifuge. 
    
2.0    SCOPE:
    
    The standard operating procedure describes in detail the method of brake liners of centrifuges in the plant.
    
3.0    RESPONSIBILITY:
    
    The responsibility of replacing the brake liners of  centrifuge lies  with  the  staff of rank not lower  than  junior  utility operator of maintenance department.
    
    The  responsibility of preparing, reviewing  and approving  the standard  operating  procedure lies with the  Manager  -  Maintenance,  Head of Production and Head of QAD respectively.
    
4.0    METHOD:
    
4.1    Isolate the equipment electrically.
    
4.2    Remove the V-belts from brake drum pulley.
    
4.3    Dismantle the brake liner supporting ring from brake drum pulley.
    
4.4    Remove the worn out liners from the brake liner supporting ring.
    
4.5    Cut  the  suitable  new liner to the  required  dimensions  and drill the holes.
    
4.6    Fix the  liner to the brake liner supporting ring  using brass  counter shuck bolts and nuts.
    
4.7    Fix the brake liner supporting ring unit.
    
4.8    Apply grease to all  moving parts of the brake.
    
4.9    Restore the power supply to the equipment. Switch on the  power supply.  Run the centrifuge till the basket attains full speed. Switch off the power supply.
    
4.10    Check the brake functioning of centrifuge.
    
4.11    If the functioning of brake is not satisfactory, adjust the brake liner supporting ring by tighting the adjustable nut.
