Description

I.    PURPOSE :
To provide a procedure to operate and maintain the Cintex make CIC-61Vacuum Oven.
 II.  SCOPE :
This procedure is applicable for the Vacuum oven used in the Quality Control department

III.  RESPONSIBILITY :
It is the responsibility of all the personnel involved in the analysis using of the system.

IV.    DOCUMENT REFERENCE :
SOPs    :    Core procedure: Calibration of Equipment
    Forms    :    Calibration of HPLC

V.    OPERATION :

1.0      PRELIMINARY CHECK :

1.1        Check that the instrument and surroundings are clean, if not, clean with a soft cloth     duster.
 2.0 BASIC OPERATION :

3.1.      Before using the Vacuum oven, check the validity of calibration
3.2        Switch on the instrument by the “MAINS” switch on the control panel of the instrument.

3.3     The control panel consists of
a.    Microprocessor based Temperature controller.
b.    Three heat control switch (Rotatory switch) to control heating rate control.
c.    Fuse.
d.    Vacuum gauge.
3.3  To set the desired temperature press set key on Microprocessor based Temperature controller until SP is displayed.
3.4  Press enter.
3.5  Usage of  “Three heat control switch” – based upon he target set temperature he rotatory
3.6  switch should be set as follows.
0    OFF position
1    350C to 1000C
2    1010C to 1500C
3    1510C to 2000C
3.7     On the right side of the Vacuum oven two connecting valves are present one is for   connecting the vacuum line or pipe other one is for connecting purging line.
3.8    After the desired temperature is set keep the sample in the oven and close the door.
3.9    The vacuum attained will be displayed on he vacuum gauge present on the front panel.

VI. CALIBRATION
Oven  Calibration Frequency: Once in six months by external agency.
Vaccum gauge Frequency: Once in Three months by external agency

1)    The calibration should be carried out by external across the full range of temperature i.e from 250C to 2000C by using methods and standards traceable to national standards and the vacuum gauge should also be calibrated.
2)    If the instrument fails in calibration, proceed as per the Core Procedure, “Calibration of Equipment”.
