1.1 To lay down a procedure for cleaning of microbiology lab.
2.0 SCOPE
2.1 This SOP covers the cleaning procedure of microbiology lab and is applicable to Block -D

5.0 PROCEDURE
5.1 Prepare the disinfectant solution as per the current version of SOP No. xxxxx
5.2 Take the disinfectant solution in two buckets and mark the bucket as 1 and 2.
5.3 Enter into the Laminar airflow room through change rooms as per the current version of SOP no.xxxxx
5.4 While cleaning dip the non- fiber shedding mop in bucket No 1 containing disinfectant solution and after each swab squiz the mop in bucket no. 2.
5.5 Do not squiz the mop in same bucket after swab.
5.6 Clean the area daily with Dettol 2.5% or Savlon 2.5% in the following order,
5.6.1 Floor of Laminar airflow room and outer surface of Bio Safety Cabinet, vertical flow ceiling suspended laminar, media unloading table, trolley and Balance table.
5.6.2 Floor of Change rooms (change room II and change room I)
5.6.3 Floor of Air lock room.
5.6.4 Floor of Hot room.
5.6.5 Floor of Incubator room.
5.6.6 Floor of Total Organic Carbon Analyzer room.
5.6.7 Outer surface of equipment’s i.e., autoclave, incubators, garment chamber, refrigerator and ovens etc.,
5.6.8 Outer surfaces of SS Tables, Change over bench, Trolleys, pass box
5.6.9 Floor of media discarding room and microbiology entrance area.
5.7 Clean the working bench and Bio safety cabinet working area bench before and after the work daily by 70% with non- fiber shedding mop.
5.8 Complete the entire procedure of cleaning as per the sequence given in point no.5.6.
5.9 After completion of cleaning discard the disinfectant solution.
5.10 Record the details in microbiology lab cleaning record as per Annexure-I
5.11 Schedule for use disinfectant
5.11.1 All area except working bench and Laminar air flow bench
First week Dettol 2.5% solution
Second week Savlon 2.5% solution
Third week Dettol 2.5% solution
Fourth week Savlon 2.5% solution
5.12Working bench and Laminar airflow bench Daily with IPA 70%.
