Description

1.0    PURPOSE:

To describe a  standard operating procedure for replacement  of  coupling bolts of reactors.

2.0    SCOPE:

The standard operating procedure describes in detail the method of replacing coupling bolts of reactors.

3.0    RESPONSIBILITY:

The responsibility of replacing the coupling bolts of  reactors  lies  with  the  staff of rank not lower  than  junior  utility operator of maintenance department.

The  responsibility of preparing, reviewing  and approving  the standard  operating  procedure lies with the  Manager  -  Maintenance,  Head of Production and Head of QAD respectively.

4.0    METHOD:

4.1    Isolate the equipment electrically.

4.2    Remove the belts/coupling guard.

4.3    Remove V-belts /coupling and then loosen the mounting bolts of gear box. Remove the gear box from the equipment.

4.4    Check  the condition  of gear box and reactor couplings.  If they  are  found cracked / with holes enlarged / loose on the shaft replace them as per Interal SOP/SOP Format.

4.5    If the condition of couplings is satisfactory, replace  the coupling bushes and bolts.  Position the gear box in it's place.

4.6    Tighten  the  base plate  bolts of the gear box.

4.7    Align the gear box and motor pulleys and fix the V-belts.

4.8    Fix the belt pulley/coupling guard.

4.9    Restore the power supply to the equipment.

4.10    Record the replacement data in the equipment history card.
