1.0 PURPOSE:
1.1 To lay down the procedure for calibration of bubble flow meter.
2.0 SCOPE:
2.1 This SOP is applicable for quality control department.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY:
3.1 Assistant – QC
4.0 ACCOUNTABILITY:
4.1 Executive – QC
5.0 PROCEDURE:
5.1 Accuracy:
5.1.1 Clean the bubble flow meter thoroughly with methanol and allow to dry.
5.1.2 Close the end of the flexible tube of flow meter and fill it with water up to the 50 mL mark.
5.1.3 Take a 100 mL empty beaker and weigh it.
5.1.4 Open the flexible tube slowly and collect the water in the 100 mL beaker, till the water level in the flow meter comes to zero.
5.1.5 Take the weight of water with beaker and note down its temperature.
5.1.6 Calculate the weight of water and convert it into volume by applying conversion factor refer below table.

5.1.7 Variation should not be more than 0.5 mL
5.2 Linearity:
5.2.1 Close the end of the flexible tube of flow meter and fill it with water up to the 50 mL mark.
5.2.2 Take a 100 mL empty beaker and weigh it.
5.2.3 Open the flexible tube slowly and collect the water in the 100 mL beaker, till the water level in the flow meter comes to 40 mL, then close the tube.
5.2.4 Take the weight of water with beaker and calculate the weight of water.
5.2.5 Again the open the flexible tube slowly and collect the water in the 100 mL beaker, till the water level in the flow meter comes to 30 mL, then close the tube.
5.2.6 Take the weight of water with beaker and calculate the weight of water.
5.2.7 Do in the same manner as per 5.2.5 and 5.2.6 at water levels of 20 mL, 10 mL and zero mL.
5.2.8 Calculate the correlation co-efficient for volume against weight and it should not be less than 0.99.
5.2.9 Record the details as per annexure-I.
