Cleaning and Sterilization of Glasswares

1.0     PURPOS    

1.1    To lay down the procedure for cleaning and sterilization of glassware used in Microbiology lab. 

2.0    SCOPE:

2.1    This SOP covers the procedure for cleaning and sterilization of glassware used in Microbiology Lab.    

3.0    RESPONSIBILITY:

3.1    Microbiologist 

4.0    ACCOUNTABILITY:    

4.1    Department Head 

5.0    PROCEDURE:

5.1    CLEANING:

5.1.1    Rinse glassware using water. Clean with Teepol solution (1%).
5.1.2    Rinse with purified water.
5.1.3    Air dry and place them in a closed cupboard.

5.2    STERILIZATION:

5.2.1    Sterilize the glassware in hot air oven.
