1.0 PURPOSE:
To describe a standard operating procedure (SOP) for discharge of effluents.
2.0 SCOPE:
The SOP describes in detail the method of discharge of effluents.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY:
The responsibility of discharging of effluents as per the SOP lies with the staff of the rank not lower than operator of the production department.
The responsibility of preparing, reviewing and approving the SOP lies with the Officer (Production), Head of Production and Head of QAD respectively.
4.0 METHOD:
4.1 Discharge the mother liquors and washings from the centrifuge into a drain provided for the purpose.
4.2 Discharge reactor washings similarly into drain leading to effluent treatment tank.
4.3 The effluents from centrifuges and reactors are collected into the tank where the pH is adjusted to 6.0 - 8.0.
4.4 After adjusting pH the effluent will be sent to common effluent treatment plant.
5.0 RECORDING:
The gate passes will be maintained by the security personnel.
