1.0 PURPOSE:
To describe a standard operating procedure (SOP) for performing leaf filtration.
2.0 SCOPE:
The SOP describes in detail the method of leaf filtration.
3.0 RESPONSIBILITY:
The responsibility of carrying out leaf filtration as per the SOP lies with the staff of the rank not lower than operator of the production department.
The responsibility of preparing, reviewing and approving the SOP lies with the Officer (Production), Head of Production and Head of QAD respectively.
4.0 METHOD:
4.1 Connect the leaf filter to pump manifold line.
4. 2 Connect the hose pipe from bottom valve of reactor to pump inlet line.
4. 3 Slowly open the bottom valve of reactor and allow the reaction mass to flow into leaf filter.
4. 4 When leaf filter is full, the filtrate enters to drum. Arrange the line filter. Connect hose pipe to line filter inlet and other end put in drum. Connect line filter outlet to another reactor charging line.
4.5 Open the valve connecting to another reactor which is connected to vacuum.
4.6 The filtration can be carried out by pumping or using air/nitrogen at 1 kg/cm2 pressure.
4.7 After completion of filtration wash the leaf filter and candle filter with suitable solvent (whatever solvent used in main batch) and add washings also into the filtrate.
5.0 RECORDING:
The leaf filtration operation will be recorded by the staff of rank not lower than operator in the batch manufacturing sheet.
