Operation Of Tapped Density Tester (Campbell Electronics C TDA 2)

Description

I.    PURPOSE :

To provide a procedure to operate and maintain the Campbell make C-TDA-2 tapped density tester.

II.    SCOPE:
The procedure is applicable for calibrating the Campbell make C-TDA-2 tapped density tester used at the Quality Control department.

III.    RESPONSIBILITY:
        It is the responsibility of the Quality Control personnel involved in the operation of   tapped density tester to follow the procedure and schedule as mentioned in this Standard Operating Procedure. 

IV.    DOCUMENT REFERENCE:
None
V.    OPERATION 
1.0    PRELIMINARY CHECK :

1.1    Check that the instrument is clean and free from dust, if not, clean with a soft cloth duster.     

2.0    GENERAL CARE AND PRECAUTIONS:

1.    Avoid any dust gathering on the bearings.
2.    Do not lubricate the bearings.
3.    Keep the shaft of the Cylinder Holder and the Tip of the cylinder Holder clean .
4.    Do not press the Cylinder Holder when the Tapping Base of Cylinder Holder is not 
                  touching the Anvil.
5.    Place the cylinder in the Holder only when the Holder is placed on the Anvil.

3.0          BASIC OPERATION 

3.1    Press the power button on .Initial appears as follows.

3.2    Initial screen shows menu as follows.

3.3    Press method, the following screen will be displayed.

3.4    Use shift to select the method, select the method and press enter 

3.5    Initial screen will appear.

3.6    Press USP
3.7     Enter the product number as 000001 and Batch number .

3.8    Enter TAP COUNT 1 and TAP COUNT 2 and TAP COUNT 3 as per the 
            Method (500,750and 1250 respectively standard as per USP ).

3.9    Enter sample weight in grams.

3.10    Enter sample volume in mL.

3.11    Then the following message appears.

3.12    Mount the cylinder and press the start key.

3.13    After TAP count 1 is completed the following message will be displayed.

3.14  Enter the sample volume and press Start, the test starts for TAP COUNT 2

3.15    After TAP count 2 is completed the following message will be displayed.

3.16    Enter the sample volume and press Start.

3.17    USP has specified to run the test till the difference between the two 

            successive volume measurements (Va & Vb) is less than 2%. 

3.18     Continue the test till the above criterion is reached.
