It is a tetraene polyene antibiotic derived from Streptomyces natalensis. It possesses activity against a variety of filamentous fungi and yeast including Candida, Cephalosporium, Aspergillus, Fusarium and Penicillium in vitro.

For the treatment of fungal blepharitis, conjunctivitis, and keratitis caused by susceptible organisms including Fusarium solani keratitis.
GI disturbances (oral). Irritation (local). Conjunctival chemosis and hyperaemia (ophthalmic).
